  • We love our new kitchen! With a level of craftsmanship that far exceeded our expectations, Jake transformed our sketchy ideas into a truly spectacular kitchen. We placed a lot of demands on Jake: Respect the history of our circa 1918 farm house, but give us a modern kitchen that accommodates two cooks at once. Knock down that load-bearing wall and incorporate the porch into the space. Give us a floor that will hold up to our two large, messy dogs. Use materials that are as eco friendly as possible. Find something (we had no idea what) other than granite or laminate for the countertops. And finally, figure out how to maximize the space in our very quirky floor plan, a floor plan that quickly ruled out stock cabinets. Jake’s response to every challenge we threw at him was spot on. The custom cabinets he designed and built out of locally harvested urban cherry are more like heirloom pieces of furniture with intricate details that far surpassed our vision. The wavy glass on one bank of cabinets and the antique bronze latches and pulls throughout are the perfect nod to the age of the home. The matte-finish countertops made of eco-friendly Paperstone are exactly what we wanted but could not identify on our own. The heated slate floor is impervious to muddy paw prints and water bowl splashing. The abundant lighting and the west-facing wall of windows and doors bring both light and the greenery of our back yard into the room, obliterating our early concerns that cherry cabinets would be too dark. And in designing the layout, every decision — from separating the cook top from the ovens to adding a hidden cabinet under the peninsula to using a sliding door rather than a traditional one to moving the doorway into the living room — resulted in increased functionality and space. There is not a single thing we’d change in our kitchen, and we can’t thank Jake enough for making it happen.

  • Jake project managed our 8 month rebuild of our house in 2018. He saw us through a complete gut and rebuild of our home on time and within budget.
